Dr Rashed Aziz - Bladder Cancer-121.jpg

Psychological Skills became a Prerequisite for my Wellbeing involving my situation of undergoing a Radical Cystectomy of Bladder Cancer Surgery.

Considering the extent of my Early Diagnosis of Bladder Cancer. I was immediately catapulted into the realm of Hospitalisation involving multiply Surgeries at first to just identify the seriousness of my Bladder Cancer Status while coping with the shear anxiety of going through the preliminary Operations to determine what will be the final approach to eventually being Cancer Free.

The Final approach however were determined by the Urology Specialists Dr Adrian Clubb and Dr Roger Watson at the Brisbane Mater Hospital. It involved a Radical Cystectomy of the Bladder which meant a Prostatectomy or Removal of the Bladder. Given the adequate Status of my Health and my age, Dr Adrian Clubb advised me to undergo a Bladder Reconstruction Surgery, which meant reconstruction of a New Bladder or Neo-Bladder out of my Intestines and putting it back into the Pelvic Cavity to act as a Conventional Bladder.

This final approach to curing my Bladder Cancer through a Prostatectomy and Reconstruction of a New Bladder gave me a Light at the End of the Tunnel, so to speak, or a Finality from the Tumultuous Trajectory of coming to a Final Conclusion.

With the aid of Modern Medicine and my Fortunate Fitness condition, my Physical Body recovered at an alarming Rate. As soon as I recognised my myself as a Physical Normal Person again after the Prostatectomy, my Mental Mind took an alternative view of trying to make sense of what just happened to me.

It was as if my Mental Status was trying to catch up to my (New Physical Self) to find some explanation, or just to get a handle on what just happened. At that moment of Soul Searching my Tumultuous Trajectory of Cancer, I immediately came to the Conclusion that I needed a Cancer Care Psychologist to help me understand and gain some coping skills to understand my Mental Anguish of what I just went though.

Psychologist Dr Gillian Mackie at the Cancer Care Support Centre came to my aid and supported me through therapy Sessions of Understanding, sharing and helping me to identify my Mental Anguish of dealing with a Prostatectomy and Bladder Cancer Reconstruction. By sharing my Experiences and understanding my Emotions and Anxieties of Post Bladder Cancer Surgery. I am able to lead a normal life as possible to the best of my ability while sharing the experiences with my immediate Family.

Mental Health became an important Factor in the Recovery Process. By Sharing my Experiences, Emotions and becoming an integral part in the trilogy of Cancer Well Being,

helping people to become more informed about Cancer is a positive Reflection on your mental Health by doing good for others in need, helps you to understand you own need and importance of Mental Health involving the recovery process of Bladder Cancer.
