WORKING TOWARDS A CANCER-FREE FUTURE
Chances are, we all know someone affected by cancer.
In Australia today, there are more than 1.1 million people either living with cancer or who’ve survived a diagnosis. It’s a disease that doesn’t rest, and for that very reason, neither do we.
What we do
Research
We fund more ground-breaking cancer research than any other non-government organisation in Australia. In 2016 alone, together with our research partners, we invested over $65 million in reducing the impact cancer has on Australians.
Prevention
We’ve prevented countless cancer cases and continue to help reduce Australians’ cancer risk by encouraging participation in early detection programs and cancer-smart, healthy lifestyle choices. Thanks to our SunSmart program in schools, more than 1.3 million kids are protected against the harmful effects of UV.
Support
We offer a number of support services for everyone affected by cancer, and just last year, we helped over 46,000 people via our 13 11 20 support line. There our trained nurses and support staff provide practical information and emotional support to those who need it.
Advocacy
We regularly call on government to take action on reducing cancer risk and improving access to treatment and care. For example, for the past 15 years we have been urging governments to introduce a national bowel cancer screening program. The program is now almost complete and is expected to save at least 75,000 lives over the next 25 years.
Thanks to your help we’re making great strides each and every day, that’s why we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
Greater the support Network, greater the Quality of Life for all that are affected in one way or another from Cancer.
